Blog Post #10: Reflection

Throughout this semester, I have learned a lot of different things about myself that I did not know before. I did not realize how much music meant to me until I read my past blog posts. Music has always been a part of my life, for as long as I can remember. From using my IPod Nano in middle school to my JBL speaker now, I am constantly listening to music. It is an amazing outlet for any mood I am in. I knew I enjoyed it, but I mentioned it in many of my blog posts, like my first one, idols blog post, and even the demographics blog post. Music is incorporated in so many different parts of my life.

The idea of love is something that also is important to me. I mentioned it a couple times in my favorite word post and my ideal partner. It sounds kind of silly, but love encompasses a lot of moments and things in my life. Whether it is my future partner, or my friends and family, when I love, I love hard. There are so many things that I love to love. Whether dogs I see on the Great Lawn, or my favorite coffee order from Starbucks, I love everything about them. Also the idea of a self love journey is really important to me. Loving myself before loving others is something that has always stuck to me. Throughout this semester, I have learned that love and music combine to define me as a person.

I have mentioned in my previous blog posts that I love music, friends, and family. However, I have not really talked about how much I love movies in blog posts. I am very into pop culture and keeping up with different movies or TV shows. Marvel movies are a specific category that have been a part of my personality almost my whole life. My family is big into Marvel movies and other movie franchises. My favorite series of movies from Marvel is the Captain America movies. The first Marvel movie I saw in theaters was Captain America: The First Avenger, and I fell in love. I loved the storyline and how it was beginning to connect with other characters in the universe, so I was hooked. My family and I have gone to almost every marvel movie premiere, at least for Phase 2. As I went off to college, I have watched a lot with friends but every time I am on break, I have a marathon with my family.

If I had to redo any of my blog posts, I would redo my idol blog. I really love the two idols I chose, my mother and Ariana Grande, but I have come to realize that I have multiple idols for different reasons. When it comes to someone who I greatly admire for their hard work, dedication, and passion, it is Beyonce. Many people think Beyonce is overhyped or “overrated”, but I would say she is quite the opposite. She has done incredible things, especially for the music industry. She defined surprise album drops or having different features on songs. Beyonce is also an advocate for human rights issues, like overall trans rights or for the Black Lives Matter Protests.I think it would have been a great addition to add Beyonce in my blog post about idols.
